£16,000 Rollover Winner!

In August 2020, Terry from Oxford was the lucky winner of £16,000, as a result of playing the Local Hospice Lottery in support of Sobell House. He talked to us about his win:

“I first started supporting Sobell House by donating items to your shops. I was impressed, as you managed to raise a lot of money from the sales of the things I’d donated. Then I decided to start playing the Local Hospice Lottery in support of Sobell House.

“Before I retired I worked at the Churchill as a Phlebotomist, and would visit Sobell House to take blood from patients. I was so impressed by the place, everyone was so kind and helpful.

“A few friends have since been cared for by Sobell House, and you hear such good things about the care. They were very well looked after and made to feel comfortable, so it’s really nice to be able to support the work by playing the lottery.

“When I got the call to say that I’d won, I was just amazed! To think that I of all people should win. We haven’t decided how to spend the winnings yet, but are planning on buying a new sofa and it’s a great help to know it’s there if I need it. I would definitely recommend playing the Local Hospice Lottery in support of Sobell House to others.”
